The service
Five Letter Words provides free tools and reference material for finding English words by length, position, contained letters, prefixes, suffixes, sequences, and similar constraints. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed as the project develops.
The site is provided for personal, educational, and ordinary word-game reference use. No registration, paid subscription, or service-level commitment is currently offered.
Accuracy and game rules
We work to keep filters and results accurate, but we do not guarantee that every entry is current, complete, correctly classified, or accepted by a particular puzzle, classroom, tournament, or game publisher.
Scrabble-style scores use familiar English tile values as a comparison tool. They do not establish tournament legality, board bonuses, premium-square effects, or acceptance by an official Scrabble dictionary. Always consult the rules and designated dictionary for the activity you are playing.
Acceptable use
You may use the site through its normal interface for lawful purposes. You may not intentionally disrupt the service, bypass security controls, send malicious traffic, impersonate the project, or use automated requests at a volume that degrades access for others.
You are responsible for deciding whether outside assistance is allowed in a competition, assessment, or multiplayer game. We do not encourage using the finder where doing so violates applicable rules or agreements.
Site content and third-party licenses
The site’s original interface, explanatory text, arrangement, and branding are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only for identification or explanatory comparison.
The bundled word list is derived from the English Speller Database under its permissive notice. Dataset provenance and the required attribution are documented on Sources & Methodology. Nothing in these terms replaces or restricts the rights granted by that third-party notice.
Availability and disclaimers
The site and its results are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or error-free operation, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Five Letter Words is not liable for a puzzle result, lost score, competition decision, or reliance on a word’s inclusion or exclusion where liability may lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms to reflect new features, providers, or legal requirements. Continued use after an updated version is published means the revised terms apply from their stated date.
